Description | The Kingston K-14 School District is looking for an outstanding individual to fill a teaching position for High School Science for the 2025-2026 school year.
Reports to: Building Principal
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:
- Valid Missouri Teaching Certificate -Science 9-12
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with personnel, students, and patrons in individual and group settings.
- Knowledge of informal and formal assessment procedures and curriculum standards
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
- Develops and maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning
- Prepares for classes assigned, and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate superiors.
- Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedures and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
- Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establishes and communicates clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects
- Employs instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
- Strives to implement through instruction and action the district's philosophy of education, curriculum, instructional goals, and objectives.
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Assesses the progress of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
- Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policy.
- Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
- Attends faculty meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
- Cooperates with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
- Assists in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
- Accepts a share of responsibility for co-curricular activities as assigned.
- Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.
- Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with others.
- Provides for his or her own professional growth through an ongoing program of reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced coursework at institutions of higher learning.
- Counsels with colleagues, students, and/or parents on a regular basis.
- Maintains confidentiality at all times.
- Other duties as assigned by the building principal.
The ideal candidate:
- demonstrates a high level of enthusiasm and energy,
- must be capable of working as part of a grade-level and building team,
- has previous experience in Science instruction
