TITLE: Custodian - Night Time
QUALIFICATIONS:
This individual must:
- Be neat in appearance.
- Be punctual and maintain regular attendance.
- Practice good personal hygiene.
- Maintain a cooperative and pleasant working relationship with other employees, supervisors, students, and parents.
REPORTS TO: Building Principal/Facility Director
JOB GOAL: Take pride in keeping a clean, safe, attractive, and comfortable environment in which to learn.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assumes responsibility for the closing of the buildings each evening and for determining, before leaving, that all windows and doors are secured and that all lights, except those left on for safety reasons, are turned off.
- Retains school keys in their possession at all times.
- Keeps custodian storage areas clean and neat at all times. Dust mops are to be combed out, cleaned, and oiled, then hung up in the proper location. All chemicals must be properly marked and stored away from any paper products or furnaces.
- Helps with any setups, takedowns, deliveries inside the building, or receiving of deliveries to the school.
- Removes snow from the stairs and sidewalks as needed.
- Is available to work other than regularly scheduled hours on occasions when the building is used for special school activities.
- He/she shall be responsible for keeping unauthorized people out of the school building.
- He/she shall be alert to correct and/or avoid safety hazards. (For example, No flammable materials are to be stored in the furnace areas.)
- He/she shall report to the building administrator or facility director any unusual or dangerous circumstances.
- He/she shall be responsible for the operation and care of the equipment used in the performance of his/her duties.
- He/she shall work days with other custodial and maintenance employees during the summer in preparing all school district buildings and grounds for the next academic year.
- Performs daily duties as assigned by the building administrator
- He/she may be asked to perform other reasonable duties as may be assigned by the school administration in emergency situations.
- These positions may require lifting at least 70 pounds.
The first performance evaluation will take place after a 90-day probationary period. After that, the performance of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with District policy on the evaluation of support staff.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and work year to be in accordance with the current pay plan and District policy.
