The Kingston K-14 School District is seeking an outstanding individual to fill the position of a library media/information specialist for the 2026-2027 school year.
Reports to: Building Principal
- Bachelor's degree required
- State Certification as a Library Media Specialist required or ability to gain provisional certification.
- 2-5 years of teaching experience preferred
Job Goal:
To provide an engaging library media program that supports literacy, information literacy, and instructional goals through effective resource management, collaboration, and technology integration.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage and operate the Library Media Center, ensuring an organized, welcoming, and productive learning environment.
- Select, evaluate, catalog, and maintain library and instructional materials; conduct inventory and weeding.
- Provide flexible access to library services and supervise students and volunteers.
- Assist students in locating, evaluating, and using information and research resources.
- Collaborate with teachers to integrate information literacy and resource-based instruction into the curriculum.
- Support classroom instruction through instructional materials, presentations, and curriculum planning.
- Promote reading, literacy development, and reading-related programs and events.
- Provide leadership in the use of instructional technology, digital resources, and STEM integration.
- Model and promote appropriate use of library resources and technology.
- Maintains positive professional relationships with students, staff, and families.
- Other duties as assigned by the building principal.
